How to get more Google reviews for your club

Getting more reviews is simple: ask. The trick is asking at the right moment. When we ask, and more ways to ask that work.

Google reviews help parents trust you, and they help you show up when parents search. Most clubs have far fewer than they should, and the reason is simple: they don’t ask.

Most happy parents would gladly leave one. They just don’t think of it unless you ask.

Ask right after a good experience

Timing is everything. Ask when a family has just had a great experience, while they’re still feeling it.

Our favourite moment is straight after a dancer’s first competition. The parent has just watched their child perform for the very first time. They have a story to tell, and they want to share it. Ask then, and the review almost writes itself.

Other great moments to ask

After a trial they lovedTheir child came out grinning.
After a showThe whole family is buzzing.

When a parent thanks youThey’ve already said it. Ask them to share it.

Ways to ask

  • Send a direct link. A message with a link that opens straight onto your Google review box. One tap, no searching.
  • Ask in person, then send the link. “Would you mind leaving us a review? I’ll send you the link now.”
  • Put a QR code up at your door or reception that opens your review page.
  • Add it to your messages: an end-of-term note, a show recap, or the bottom of your emails.
  • Ask your coaches to mention it whenever a parent tells them how much their child loves the class.
  • Reply to every review, so parents can see you read them and care.

Keep it honest. Ask for an honest review, not a five-star one, and don’t offer anything in return. Google’s own rules don’t allow rewards for reviews.

The best time to ask for a review is the moment a family is proudest of their child.

The same goes for referrals

Asking families to recommend you works exactly the same way. Ask after a good experience: when their child has just got top marks, or performed in front of a huge crowd. That’s when they’re most likely to think of a friend who’d love it too.

A quick checklist

  1. Ask every happy family, not just now and then.
  2. Ask right after a good experience, like a first competition or show.
  3. Send a direct link so it takes one tap.
  4. Reply to every review.
  5. Ask for referrals at the same moments.
